Grilled Ribeyes, Panzanella, and our 21st Anniversary!
A year ago for our 20th anniversary we were in New York City eating our most fabulous meal to date at Del Posto. Fast forward one year and one pandemic, and we decided to get some steaks and have dinner at home. We went to Claus’ German Sausage and Meat Market on Friday afternoon and picked out two GINORMOUS ribeye steaks. We were after T-bones, but apparently they are hard to come by lately. (Dammit, Covid.)
So, before we went steak shopping, I put together the panzanella. SO easy! Such a great thing to do with leftover or stale bread, it was delicious, and perfect with the steaks and wine. You throw it all together and let it sit at room temperature to let the flavors come together. Post steak shopping, we made a couple of cocktails and sat out in the yard listening to some music. Oh and then there was some champagne. And then wine with dinner. So needless to say, a good time was had by all!
The steaks could not be easier. If you’re one of those people who likes your steak cooked until they’re gray, you can stop reading now, and maybe don’t ever tell anyone and just wallow in your secret shame by yourself. These steaks were about an inch thick, and got cooked MAYBE three minutes per side. They were perfect. The oil, garlic and rosemary gave them just enough extra flavor, but I’m pretty sure they would have been good slapped on the grill with some salt and pepper! Mmmm, so good! For dessert, we had some chocolate truffles from Best Chocolate in Town, who closed their storefront but still make chocolates for online order and pickup and for local restaurants, and Jarrod found them in town at Twisted Sicilian. Score!
We had a lovely dinner to celebrate, enjoyed our time together, and that’s what it’s really all about!
Cheers! ~ Jen
